My Story

Ruki is a yoga teacher based in London and India. Since starting yoga in 2019, the trajectory of her life completely changed. She went on to complete over 1200 hours of teacher trainings in Hatha, Ashtanga, Rocket and Tantra yoga, across India, Singapore and the UK, delving deep into yogic philosophy, psychology and somatic therapy.

Fascinated by the power of yogic techniques to balance the nervous system, Ruki went on to pursue an MSc in Neuroscience. After graduating, she joined the Cultural and Social Neuroscience Lab, at King's College London as a cognitive neuroscientist. She constantly tries to draw parallels between Eastern and Western schools of thought.

Her research interests include altered states of consciousness, namely, through hypnosis and yoga nidra. Her thesis involved using hypnotic suggestion to induce hallucinations and thought insertion in healthy volunteers, while capturing their brain activity using EEG. Later, she worked on projects that explored the experiences of spiritual mediums, aiming to differentiate culturally valued experiences from psychopathology. Read more about her work here

Passionate about understanding the mind-body complex, Ruki is currently traveling around India, seeking experiences to better understand herself and others. Her classes are a synthesis of her learnings across science and spirituality, facilitating physical and mental transformation in her students.

about ruki

@ Jilyoga, London

Yoga teacher

"I attended both of Ruki's science of breath and balance workshops, and they deeply impacted how I practice everyday. They influenced the way I teach and added to the explanations I provide to my students. Ruki's passion is beautifully expressed through the interweaving of neuroscience and yoga. If you ever get a chance to dip into her passion, I highly recommend it."
